The Liberal Nationals are committed to supporting great education facilities for all Victorian children.
That’s why an elected Liberal Nationals Government will commit $6 million for important building repairs at Murrumbeena Primary School.
Melbourne’s population is now 5 million people and growing at an average of around 2,700 a week and it’s putting enormous pressure on schools in suburbs like Oakleigh.
Murrumbeena Primary School has over 550 students but with significant structural failing, including serious leaks and building cracks, have seen parts of the building put off limits for students and teachers. Air conditioning units are not functioning correctly and the facilities used for Out of School Hours Care are inadequate and unhygienic.
The Murrumbeena School Council has been fighting for extra funding from their local Labor MP for the last 19 years and despite providing massive funding for neighbouring schools, Murrumbeena Primary School has been overlooked time and time again.
Only a Liberal Nationals government will give the students and teachers at Murrumbeena Primary School the facilities they deserve to ensure local schools can keep up with population growth.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Education, Tim Smith:
“The Labor Party has held the seat of Oakleigh since 1999 and it clearly takes locals for granted.
Murrumbeena Primary School has been overlooked by the Andrews Labor Government for this funding for far too long, and I’m pleased we can right this wrong.
The Liberal Nationals are committed to redeveloping Murrumbeena Primary School and give local students every chance they need to pursue a quality education.”
Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Oakleigh, Andrew Edmonds:
“Murrumbeena Primary School is a great school in a wonderful community and deserves facilities which can be used and enjoyed every day by its students.
The project can wait no longer. I am delighted that a Liberal Nationals Government will support Murrumbeena Primary School and the local community by providing this much needed infrastructure funding.”
