An elected Liberal government, led by Matthew Guy, will provide $4.3 million to Oakleigh Grammar, to undertake desperately needed improvement works.
This will include the construction of an aquatic centre to help get students active.
It will also include the construction of a dedicated car park to ease congestion in nearby streets. Congestion around Oakleigh Grammar is at choking-point and the School Board’s requests for assistance to create safe drop-of and pick-up areas, as well as decongesting local streets, have been ignored.
Oakleigh Grammar has been ignored by Daniel Andrews and Labor, but the Liberals recognise the need for parents and students to have choice when it comes to education.
With Melbourne’s current population squeeze limiting parental choices it’s never been more important to support all three sectors of the school system.
This funding will form part of the Liberals’ $400 million Catholic and Independent Schools Capital Fund, to upgrade and build new schools across Victoria.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Education, Tim Smith:
“Supporting low-fee non-government schools is crucial for the parents of the nearly 40% of Victorian kids who are educated at Catholic or Independent Schools.
Giving parents and children choice in education is a core value of the Liberal Nationals.
That’s why we’ve announced a $400 million Catholic and Independent Schools Capital Fund, and will be happy to provide $4.3 million of that to Oakleigh Grammar for these much needed works.”
Comments attributable to Member for Southern Metro, David Davis:
“The Oakleigh Grammar community have been crying out for capital funding for years, but they’ve been disgracefully ignored by Daniel Andrews and Labor.
Only a vote for Andrew Edmonds and the Liberals will see Oakleigh Grammar receive the $4.3 million in funding it deserves.”
Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Oakleigh, Andrew Edmonds:
“Daniel Andrews, Steve Dimopoulos and Labor have completely ignored requests for assistance from Oakleigh Grammar.
Matthew Guy and the Liberals will provide the support the Oakleigh Grammar community has been crying out for, to help get students active, and get back in control of the traffic congestion choking the local area.”
